Powers and Limitations: What Stops You to Rise?

You have Powers
You never dreamed of,
You can do things
You never thought you could do;
There are no limitations
In what you can do;
Except the Limitations
Of your own Mind.

Coolest Quote of the Day - I

This is definitely the "Quote of the Day"!
God! Grant me the serenity,
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And Wisdom to know the Difference.
~~~ Reinhold Niebuhr
Don't Ever Give Up if ....
Don't ever give up ...
if you still want to try.
Don't ever wipe your tears ...
if you still want to cry.
Don't ever settle for an answer ...
if you still want to know.
Don't ever say I don't love you ...
if you still do!
Finish each day and be done with it .....
Your children are not your children - by Khalil Gibran
In this World full of killings, brutality and mis-trust, here is a magnificent piece of poetry by Khalil Gibran, describing the way to raise the children in a difficult World:-
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit,
not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you
with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that
is stable.
~~~ Khalil Gibran

Lincoln's Letter to his Son's Teacher

Abraham Lincoln was one of the most renowned American Presidents and his writings have been popular among history. Here is one of his writings, which is in fact a letter to his son's teacher. In this letter, he asks his son's teacher to teach some attributes to his son, and the letter became a memorable piece of historical literature. Every father desires his son to learn these qualities and everyone of them must read them:
Lincoln's Letter to his Son's Teacher
He will have to learn, I know,
that all men are not just,
all men are not true.
But teach him also that
for every scoundrel there is a hero;
that for every selfish Politician,
there is a dedicated leader…
Teach him for every enemy there is a friend,
Steer him away from envy,
if you can,
teach him the secret of
quiet laughter.
Let him learn early that
the bullies are the easiest to lick…
Teach him, if you can,
the wonder of books…
But also give him quiet time
to ponder the eternal mystery of birds in the sky,
bees in the sun,
and the flowers on a green hillside.
In the school teach him
it is far honourable to fail
than to cheat…
Teach him to have faith
in his own ideas,
even if everyone tells him
they are wrong…
Teach him to be gentle
with gentle people,
and tough with the tough.
Try to give my son
the strength not to follow the crowd
when everyone is getting on the band wagon…
Teach him to listen to all men…
but teach him also to filter
all he hears on a screen of truth,
and take only the good
that comes through.
Teach him if you can,
how to laugh when he is sad…
Teach him there is no shame in tears,
Teach him to scoff at cynics
and to beware of too much sweetness…
Teach him to sell his brawn
and brain to the highest bidders
but never to put a price-tag
on his heart and soul.
Teach him to close his ears
to a howling mob
and to stand and fight
if he thinks he’s right.
Treat him gently,
but do not cuddle him,
because only the test
of fire makes fine steel.
Let him have the courage
to be impatient…
let him have the patience to be brave.
Teach him always
to have sublime faith in himself,
because then he will have
sublime faith in mankind.
This is a big order,
but see what you can do…
He is such a fine little fellow,
my son!
